Nelson Piquet Jr. made the strategy work, and was able to keep his car out of trouble to get his firstNASCAR Nationwide Series win at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

The former Formula One driver and current driver in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series made his road course debut in the Nationwide Series today. He quickly adapted to the car as opposed to the truck and won the pole for the race. He ran the team's strategy to perfection and that led to the win.Piquet led early and led the final 16 laps as well.

Michael McDowell led a lot of laps as well, but had to settle for a second place finish. McDowell ran up front most of the race just like last year, but was unable to race Piquet for the win. He finished over four seconds back from Piquet.

Danica Patrick also ran up front most of the race, but finished twelfth after a run-in with former Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve spun her out with less than three laps left. Patrick was passing Max Papis, and Villenueve tried to follow. Papis forced Villeneuve into the grass, but Villeneuve was able to recover. He got into the back of Patrick and spun her around in the very next corner. Villeneuve blamed the incident on wheel hop, and also said he thought Patrick didn't know that he was there.

Villeneuve went on to finish sixth. Papis finished fourth.

Villeneuve also had an incident with series points leader Elliott Sadler. Villeneuve was bumped by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. into Sadler. Sadler went around and nosed it into the wall. Sadler finished fifteenth and was able to hold onto the points lead over last year's Truck series champion Austin Dillon by 11 points.
